As you are likely aware, travel restrictions and health concerns resulting from COVID-19 meant converting the annual UEFI Spring Plugfest into an online, virtual event. It is important to the UEFI Forum that we continue to engage with our members and provide educational opportunities, so we are excited to announce the lineup for the Firmware Industry Ecosystem webinar series on BrightTALK:
Presented by Andrei Warkentin (VMWare) & Samer El-Haj-Mahmoud (Arm)
Date & Time: Wednesday, April 29 from 8:00 am PT – 8:45 am PT
Overview: This presentation and live demo will highlight VMware's and Arm's joint open effort to bring Arm ServerReady experiences to the Raspberry Pi 4 via community-developed SBBR (UEFI + ACPI) firmware. The session will cover the history of the Pi UEFI port, its current status, and the technical challenges that remain to be solved.
Presented by Mahesh Natu (Intel) and Thanu Rangarajan (Arm)
Date & Time: Tuesday, May 19 from 8:00 am – 8:45 am PT
Overview: This presentation will feature an introduction to the Compute Express Link (CXL) standard and specification. It will also provide a deep dive into technical details of UEFI and ACPI specifications changes that are necessary to enable CXL devices and CXL-aware operating systems.
Presented by Dong Wei and Samer El-Haj-Mahmoud (Arm)
Date & Time: Wednesday, May 20 from 8:00 am – 9:00 am PT
Overview: This presentation provides an overview of the market reality of the boot system firmware on Arm systems, from servers to edge devices. It will cover the range of firmware standards available for those systems, including Arm Trusted Firmware, SBBR (UEFI/ACPI), EBBR (UEFI on top of uboot), as well as LinuxBoot. The session also includes the evolution of the Arm firmware standards and the ServerReady program around UEFI and ACPI to design systems that “just work,” regardless of the segment.
The UEFI BrightTALK Channel is free to join and all of our webinars are free of charge and open to the public. A recording of each webinar will be available after the presentation has concluded, so if you register but are unable to attend the live presentation, you can view the presentation recording on the UEFI Forum YouTube channel at a later date.
